As our weather is typical of late April/Early May with temps in the 50s and 60s along with periodic shower threats. The Midwest is dealing with the Mississippi River flooding over its banks and this has been going on for a couple weeks. This is likely the worse flooding since 2001, but so far not as damaging or devastating as those floods.
Most gauges from Iowa to Louisiana are reporting minor to moderate flooding. The worse flooding is taking place near the Quad Cities in Iowa/Illinois and even though the river is falling, a storm system is going to bring more rain into the weekend. Below is Modern Woodman Park, home of the Single-A Quad City River Bandits. Normally, the outfield view is one of the nicest in the minors with the river and Skybridge in the background, but the river has spilled over into parts of the stadium and Davenport’s other areas. Also significantly impacted has been Louisiana and the Baton Rouge area where the Mississippi is flooding at major levels and affected different industries and low-lying farming areas. However, the city is still protected by levees.
